My Approach

My perspective on therapy is that it is a space for individuals to tear down everything they believe they should be and build up everything that they are. I am passionate about helping individuals see and value the good in themselves. Oftentimes our minds can fool us into believing that we are not worthy, not enough, or unloveable. These are generalized falsehoods that are usually rooted in trauma, fears, and/or unhealthy interactions. I often utilize Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) as I work to create a safe space for you to begin to confront such negative core beliefs - to stare them down - in order to begin to challenge, dismantle, and replace them with new, positive beliefs.

I take a solution-focused approach meaning that we will spend most of your time exploring where you want to go and what will help you get there. There will be times when we need to look back at moments from the past to provide insight into what is needed to keep moving forward. I will support you through each step and provide you with tools of mindfulness and self-compassion that you can use in between sessions to aid the healing process.

“We don’t have to do all of it alone. We were never meant to.”

“The curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change.”
– Carl R. Rogers

My Background

I earned my Masters of Science in Social Work from The University of Texas at Austin in 2016 and went on to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor. Since then I have worked with adults in recovery from addiction, along with their families, at both the inpatient and outpatient levels. Doing so provided me with experience treating a wide array of mental health issues along with allowing me to hone my skills in helping others address common human challenges such as lacking balance in life and low self-worth/negative self-talk. When I am not working with clients, I enjoy taking walks with my dog, Phoebe, baking treats for my friends, and enjoying the numerous parks in and around Austin.
