I've never really thought of myself as depressed so much as I am paralyzed by hope.

My Approach

I believe the single most impactful element of therapy is the client-therapist relationship. As your therapist, I want to create a safe place where you feel comfortable sharing your thoughts openly without any fear of judgment. Through validation, empathy, and a little humor, I seek to build trust with clients at their own pace.

I draw from a variety of evidence-based therapies in my practice, and have extensive experience with Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), but my favorite approach is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). In ACT, clients shift away from fighting with their thoughts and emotions and instead learn to accept them without being controlled by them. ACT utilizes mindfulness techniques (meditation not required) and client-centered values exploration to help you build the life you actually want to live.

For clients struggling with trauma, I also specialize in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). CPT is an evidence-based treatment for PTSD and trauma symptoms that can be completed in under 12 weeks. Unlike some exposure-based therapies, CPT allows clients to work through their trauma without having to give a detailed account of the trauma, making it more approachable for some clients. I was trained in CPT through the University of Texas Strongstar Training Initiative, and have seen clients make astounding progress with CPT in just a short period of time, often after years of struggling with trauma symptoms.

My Clients

I typically work with adults dealing with anxiety (including imposter syndrome), depression, trauma/PTSD, LGBTQIA issues (including gender identity issues), or chronic illness/disability. I also have significant experience working with clients on the autism spectrum, clients in non-traditional relationships, service members and veterans, and third culture kids. I strive to create a stigma-free environment, and work with clients from all lifestyles. Come as you are.

My Background

I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) in both Texas (license no. 67310) and Illinois (license no. 149.018728) with over a decade of experience in the field. I’ve worked in hospitals, schools, substance use treatment centers, and on the streets as a community mental health provider. Before becoming a therapist, I was a teacher, a fencing instructor, a sailor, a SCUBA diver, and a world traveller. When I’m not tinkering with brains I enjoy trees, food, and video games. I have two cats and one human.
