My Approach

Hello and welcome! I believe everyone can experience profound healing and growth from participating in therapy. My approach is encouraging, warm, and nurturing, and I work collaboratively with clients to help navigate life’s stressors. The therapeutic process helps us develop self-awareness so we can create a healthier relationship with ourselves and with others. My intention is to provide a safe space to support clients through processing emotions and developing insights into helpful, and perhaps not-so-helpful, thinking patterns. I also aim to assist clients with clarifying values and learning practical tools and techniques for acting in line with those values.

“Your vision will become clear only when you look into your own heart... who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes.”
-Carl Jung

My Background

I have been practicing clinical social work for over 20 years with diverse populations and in a wide variety of settings. I earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from Emory University and a master’s in social work from UT Austin. Over the course of my career, I spent 2 years in Richmond, VA providing in-home counseling with a focus on attachment and trauma, and I spent 5 years in New York City working on various inpatient units at a Level I Trauma Center hospital. In Austin I have provided counseling at an outpatient mental health clinic, facilitated substance abuse and violence prevention groups in schools, and provided clinical social work services at multiple inpatient hospitals. Prior to joining Yellow Chair, I was working as a behavioral health clinician at an outpatient women’s health clinic where I specialized in perinatal mental health. The therapeutic modalities I utilize with my clients include principles from Attachment Theory, Internal Family Systems, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy.

“If you can't change reality, change your perceptions of it.”
-Audre Lourde

In my free time I enjoy hiking and spending time outdoors with my family, cheering on my son at his soccer games, and being entertained by my very sweet and very silly daughter. I also love to read, listen to podcasts, practice yoga, and meditate when I can find pockets of time for myself!
